The Small Council governs the every-day affairs of the realm. Each in their own expertise, they consult the King & his hand on the decisions to be made, often hear petitions & reside in King's Landing to govern effectively & unitedly.

The Lord Commander of the King's Guard & the Grand Maester customarily sit on the council, but usually only in an advisory role. Each may be consulted but carries no vote in decisions made.

While the Grand Maester deals with both the Citadel's requests & the every need of the Red Keep, the King's Guard is pledged to protect the members of the Royal Family, often executing duties of warfare for the crown.

The Seven of the King's Guard take their oaths for life, forswearing lands, titles & family to fulfil their charge. They are known to be the most renowned Knights of the realm.

The High Septon of the Faith however, resides in the Great Sept of Baelor, caring for hundreds of thousands of faithful smallfolk within the capital alone. Principally an institution of outreach, the Faith manages the relations between the crown & its people.
