The Splendor of the West
The Lannisters were kings in their own rights and even when they ruled as monarchs, they contended with the other lions. When both lions try to gather a pride, who's claws are long and sharp is not only measured by power, but by loyalty.
In a kingdom where gold flows freely, united by mountains and Reaver infested Sunset Sea's, the minor houses follow a leader that projects power, unity, purpose. They follow whichever lion asserts the influence over the realm. Whichever lion shares their splendor with them.
So the red and the gold lion dance, a step, a claw, a march, a cloak, a word and a match - whoever remains vigilant will reap the unity of western houses, whoever demonstrates discipline, will carry the banner.
These are the "Towers of Splendor". They show you the loyalty of each minor house toward either lion. Besides the diplomacy you chose to hold, events including matches, disputes and most likely grants & taxes will appear as petitions from minor houses.
The personal loyalties the members of each house hold toward the Lord Paramount are a factor in deciding the severity of events, but not their position on the towers.

The minor houses stand highest on who's tower they are most loyal to, needing to descend that tower first, to climb the other.
So loyalty remains slow to change and stable over time. The minor houses are also mostly grudge free in their natural state, only in conflict when provoked by either one of the major powers.
You will quickly notice that petitions made by rival houses will aim to draw harsh reactions.
Achievements of House Lannister & the Legacy of the Westerlands
The pride of the Westerlands is its wealth and unity. Since the days of the ancient Kings of the Rock, this kingdoms wealth fueled its unity. With vassals bending the knee before the great lion and being allowed to share in the safety, the stature and the splendor of the rock.
Now, as Wardens under a distant crown, House Lannister must ensure that the wealth of their kingdom does not take from it what the conqueror couldn't: its unity. When a Red Lion offers coin and matrimony and a Gold Lion offers the same, how do you know which lion is proudest? You watch the lion protect the interests of its vassals, not the whims but the needs of all, including its rivals.
With each achievement a brick is laid, a mine is dug, a sail is hoist and the legacy of the Westerlands is secured in noble halls and winding paths alike.

The Warden of the West is the Golden Lion of Lannisport and Casterly Rock, House Lannister. The old King's of the Rock ruled from the Westerlands and House Lannister surely aspires to their splendor. Gold forged and minted here makes its way throughout the Seven Kingdoms.
From the forests of Crakehall to the mountains of Hornvale and the rugged coasts of the Banefort, the West is a land of harsh duality. The wealth of its goldmines and trade is contrasted to the discipline and martial readiness that has so effectively united this kingdom. The Warden of the West rules over one of the most unified regions in the Realm, split only with a single rival house.

The Old Lion has ruled the Westerlands for almost 3 decades. A steadfast warden with an iron fist, an old tourney knight reliving his glory days, an ambitious general, elevating the splendor of his house.
A proud father of the twins, he would never let one bear the shadow of being second. They came into this world as one, born beneath the same stars, and would forever stand as equals beneath his name.
But whispers shroud his many children. The rumors spread wildly about the Lion's House.

With goldmines grander than any but the Lannister's and Reyne's, House Lefford is wealthy in its own regard. Their ability to open or shut the gates of the Riverroad gives them leeway well above their station.

The breadbasket of the west lies in its adjacent lands to the Reach. House Serrett sits atop the Goldengrove River, overseeing their fertile lands, isolated from much of the politics of the western lords, but in constant demand to sell their harvests. And Silverhill - is not so named for the glint of morning light on snowy peaks but for what lies deep beneath the hills and crags.

Each day the lion wakes and thanks the gods for Cornfield, so the grain may flow if ever the roads to the Rock are blocked by war. House Swyft knows its duty and its importance. Without its allies in Silverhill, their countrymen spend all their riches on the apple from the tree and the rooster from the roost.

Many were the children of old lord Swyft. His first lady wife traveling the west, making matches for their many daughters, was often called "old hen", the name mockingly passing to him with her passing.

House Tarbeck of Tarbeck Hall
Silver and Gold came from beneath Tarbeck Hall once, when they were grand names of old. An ancient line, with much in the way of history, now yearns for its wealth as the the name itself is all that the name Tarbeck carries.The heirs of Tarbeck hHall would do anything to stand amongst the halls of power once again.

The burning tree of Ashemark lights the north of the Westerlands. House Ashemark guards the pass ofthe Tumblestone, neither the wealthiest nor the most prosperous house of the west, House Marbrand counts many famous knights amongst its history and have been remarkably loyal and unambitious bannermen to their liege lords.

Due to both conflict and sickness, all three knightly lords, a father, son & grandson have been recently widowed.
As command trickles from grandfather, through father and son, the just and merited authority over decisions within the burning tree might become an apparent issue as each generation seems more adept than the last.

House Lydden of Deep Den
The badger of the Deep Den guards the Goldroad. With mines of their own, House Lydden commands some in the way of resources but fertile lands amongst the crags of the borderlands does not count amongst their holdings. So they rely heaviest of all, on the supplies traveling along the road which they guard.

The Fair Isle is the shield that guards Lannisport and the rest of the Westerlands alike. A powerful fleet and much in the way of trade and commerce to uphold it within the Sunset Sea is what has made this house indispensable bannermen. A rough life for a rough people.

The ancient house of Crakehall has guarded the passage south for centuries. The final guardsman holds much of the western underbelly, protected and served by their warrior lords. The boar, above all values relations with the south, ensuring the safety of its fields and orchards, its forestry's and its keeps.
